Chailey Parish Council in East Sussex invites applications for the role of Parish Clerk and RFO. The ideal candidate will have financial management experience as well as local government knowledge. The successful candidate would also be expected to complete the necessary training in order to gain their CiLCA qualification.
The role provides an excellent opportunity for someone with the right skills, knowledge, experience and disposition to take on the challenging yet rewarding work of a rural parish.
- Experience in Local Government (Some knowledge of Local Government organisation and operation)
- Financial Management (budgeting, keeping of financial records)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Reporting to the Council you will be required to organise meetings, draft minutes, prepare documentation and follow up on actions. As Responsible Financial Officer you will manage the Council’s accounts and budgeting.
The role is office based at the Parish Council Offices, The Reading Room, Chailey Green, BN8 4DA, with some evening work attending meetings, and is for an average of 25 hours per week.
The ideal candidate will have a proven record of success working in the local government sector, although a handover period with the previous Clerk and RFO will be provided.
