We have just published our draft business case for a single unitary council for East Sussex. One East Sussex
It’s a detailed and evidenced case that weighs the benefits of a single unitary against other suggested options (two unitaries for East Sussex and/or an expanded Brighton & Hove) and suggests the single unitary is more efficient, saves costs and preserves our identity and partnership working.
The county council and all five boroughs and districts have worked this proposal up from an interim plan agreed back in March.
It will now be considered by the cabinets of each council by 26 September, at which point each of us has to submit our proposed option to the Government. So nothing is yet decided and other options will be suggested in some places.
